I.The True Nature of God
A.Don’t Blame God
1. A misunderstanding of the “Sovereignty” of God is perhaps the most pervasive and potentially deadly doctrine in the Body of Christ.
a.Sovereign simply means a supreme ruler; possessing supreme or ultimate power.
b.Religion mistakenly says God’s sovereignty means He’s in control of everything that happens in the earth and nothing can happen unless He wills it or allows it. This is not true according to the Bible!
2.God’s will does not automatically come to pass!
(2 Pet. 3:9) God’s will is that no one would perish and that all would repent. (ref. Matt. 7:13)
~(Deut. 30:19-20 NLT) free will of man
~(John 10:10) Jesus brings life, Satan brings death
~(Jas. 1:17 NLT) God is good all the time!
~(Jas. 4:7) Submit to God, resist the devil
3.God’s will requires man’s consent, cooperation and participation.
a.(Gen. 1:26; Ps. 115:15-16) man’s authority
~(Mark 6:3-6) Jesus was limited by the faith of the people.
~(Ps. 78:40-42) God was limited by the people.
~(Luke 1:34, 38) the birth of Jesus required the Word of God, cooperation of the prophets to speak it, and Mary to believe and receive it.
~(ref. Gen. 3) Satan couldn’t make man eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He deceived them into eating and rebelling against God.
4.God’s Word reveals God’s will and is His instruction manual to the victorious life.
a.(Jos. 1:8) God’s will requires our cooperation.
b.(Luke 10:19) We have the authority!
c.(Rom. 8:17) We are joint heirs with Christ!
