I.The Secret Power of Imagination
A. Life is a Reflection of the Heart
1. The Bible teaches that our lives move in the direction of our most dominant thoughts, and that our life is the reflection of our heart. If we’re going to change our lives, we must first change our thoughts and heart.
a. (Prov. 23:7a) “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…”
~(Num. 13:33) “…we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
b. (Matt. 12:33-35) Jesus taught this same truth: evil heart = evil fruit; good heart = good fruit
c. (Prov. 27:19 NIV) “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
d. (Prov. 4:20-27) “…Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”
e. (Rom. 12:1-2) All transformation in life occurs as a result of the mind renewal process.
B. Imagination is Where Spiritual Conception Occurs
1. (Gen. 11:3-6 AMP) “…now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them.”
a. Imagination – the ability to picture something in your mind and heart that you can’t yet see with your eyes. The imagination is where spiritual conception occurs.
2. (Gen. 6:5; 8:21 both KJV) man’s unrenewed imagination naturally defaults to evil.
a. yetser – (yaytser) imagination, mind, to frame or to form, conception, thoughts, framework.
b. (Ps. 103:8-14) “For He knows our frame…”
~(Jas. 1:13-15 AMP) sin is conceived in the imagination.
~(2 Cor. 10:3-5 KJV) spiritual warfare is really a matter of taking control of your imagination.
c. (Isa. 26:3) yetser translated mind
3. (Ps. 1:1-4; 2:1-3 all KJV) hagah is translated meditate and imagine.
