I. Saved, Single & Sanctified
A. Marriage Shouldn’t be the Goal, but God’s Will Should Be
1. Oftentimes in families, our society and especially in church we make marriage the pinnacle of achievement, fulfillment, completeness and happiness. And according to the Scriptures that just isn’t the truth.
a. Many singles are so focused on preparing for, waiting on, getting, catching, hunting, or bagging a mate that they miss out on the true purpose, value and benefit of Kingdom singleness.
b. A Kingdom Single is a Christian single man or woman who is committed to live out their wholeness, completeness and uniqueness under the ruler-ship of God.
c. No one should ever marry until he/she is whole and complete in his/her individuality and uniqueness.
~You must know who you really are, what are your gifts, and be in pursuit of your God-given dreams before ever considering marriage.
2. (Col. 2:10) A spouse can’t fix your brokenness, insecurities, or incompleteness – only a Savior can! A spouse isn’t meant to complete you, just complement you!
a. If you’ve been through a divorce or death of a spouse take some time to learn the new you.
b. Learn and let go!
B. Marriage is Good (in the right season), but Single is Better (in the right season) (1 Cor. 7)
1. 1 Cor. 7 Paul’s speaks about singleness, marriage, separation, divorce and remarriage.
a. (v1-2 AMP) sex outside of marriage; living together.
b. (v7-9 AMP) gift of singleness; singleness is good, but marry if you can’t control your passions.
c.(v24 NKJV) Singleness and marriage is a calling.
~Just like Adam/Eve needed to spend time alone with God as a single before marriage, so do you.
~(Gen. 50:20 NIV) Joseph went from the pit, to enslaved, to prison, to the palace.
~(ref. Deut. 1:2; Exo. 13:17-18) 11 day journey took 40 years because God took them the long way.
~If you’re not whole as a single you could meet Mr. Right but you may be Ms. Wrong! (omelet)
d. (v25-27 NKJV) If you are married don’t seek to be single; if you are single don’t seek a mate. Seek the LORD!
~Don’t you dare go out in those singles streets and try and find a spouse on your own!
~(Prov. 18:22 AMP; 19:14; 31:10)
~Spend your time becoming what you want in a spouse! Be what you’re looking for!
e. (v28 NKJV) Marriage brings some unique problems.
f. (v36-40 TPT) You’re better off single but if you can’t stay celibate marry.
