A.Transfer of Authority
God to Man
- (Gen. 1:26-28) God gave man unconditional, unqualified and unrestricted authority over the earth.
a. (Ps. 115:16) Man’s authority over the earth.
b. (John 10:31-36) Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6
Man to Satan
2. (Rom. 6:16 NLT) Satan deceived Eve in the garden and Adam forfeited his authority to Satan through disobedience to God.
a.(Gen. 2:16-17; 3:1-7) Man’s original sin
b.(2 Cor. 4:4 NLT) Satan – the god of this world
c. (Luke 4:5-8) Satan tempts Jesus with his authority
Satan to Jesus
3. Jesus defeated the devil through His birth, life, death, burial and resurrection. Jesus regained man’s authority.
a. (Gen. 3:14-15; Matt. 1:18-23) Jesus’ birth prophesied by God and man
~(John 1:1-4, 14) the Word became flesh
~(Matt. 2:5-6, 14-15, 23; 8:16-17) spoken by prophets
b. (John 5:26-27 MSG) Jesus has authority in earth because He became a man.
~(Phil. 2:5-11 NLT) Jesus lived as a man.
c.(Heb. 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8) In death Jesus destroyed him who had the power of sin and death, the devil.
d. (1Cor. 15:20-28 NLT; Rev. 1:18) death destroyed
Jesus through Believers

a. (Luke 10:17-19) greater power and authority in redemption than creation.
