A. Jesus – High Priest after the Order of Melchizedek
1. (Ps. 110:4 AMP) To understand what new covenant tithing is all about we must first understand Jesus’ High Priestly position.
a. (Heb. 5:1-14 NIV) a priest comes from the people, to represent the people to God (a prophet represents God to the people).
~As the High Priest is, so God views the people.
b. (Gen. 14:1-24 MSG) The first mention of the tithe in the Bible has to do with Abram and Melchizedek.
~Bera (son of evil) king of Sodom (burning)
~Birsha (with iniquity) king of Gomorrah (submersion)
c. (Heb. 7:1-28 NIV) Jesus like Melchizedek is appointed by God as High Priest forevermore.
~Melchizedek (king of Salem/Peace) king of righteousness.
