I.Promises of Protection 7 – Truths from Ps 91
A.Promises of Protection (Read Psalm 91 NKJV)
1. (v1-13) “He that dwells in the secret place…”
a. V1 through v13 David is talking, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to the hearer about the LORD, but v14 through v16 the LORD is talking to David about the hearer.
2. (v14) “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”
a. (v14b) “…I will set him on high, because he has known My name.”
~(Phil. 2:9-11) the name of Jesus
~(Acts 4:10-12 AMP) salvation in Jesus’ name
~(Luke 10:17-19) demon’s subject to His name
-(Acts 19:11-16 NLT) sons of Sceva

~(John 17:6, 11) Jesus manifested one name of God – “Father.”

b. (v14a) “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him…”
~Protection and deliverance under the old covenant were conditional based on our love for God, but protection and deliverance under the new covenant are based on our faith in His love for us.
c. (Matt. 22:36-40; John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:7-11, 19) we love Him because we understand and receive His love for us.
B. Rooted and Grounded in God’s Love You
1. (Eph. 3:17-19) rooted and grounded in His love for you so that you may be filled with the fullness of God.
a. (Gal. 5:6 KJV) faith works by our revelation of God’s love for us.
~(Rom. 5:1-5) Bible hope based on God’s love.
b. (Rom. 8:31-39) we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.
~(Matt. 3:17; 4:3) “This is My Beloved Son…”
~David means “Beloved” in Hebrew.
2. (John 3:14-16) God’s love for the world
a. (Num. 21:4-9 NLT) bronze serpent
b. (John 12:31-33) Jesus lifted up like the serpent
3. (Isa. 52:13-14 NIV; 53:3-12 NIV) Because God loves us He punished Jesus for us.
