1. This series is about exposing and dispelling the lies of the devil and revealing God’s truth. God has a prescription for life that brings blessing in every area of life, but we must see through the lies of the devil to make right choices in life.

B.Five Lies (Gen. 3:1-8 NIV)

Lie 1.(v1) “Did God really say…”?

a.The devil gets us to question God’s Word.

~God’s Word isn’t totally true today.

~(Rom. 3:4 NIV) “Let God be true, and every human being a liar.

~(John 17:17 NIV)

~“If your god never disagrees with you, you might just be worshipping an idealized version of yourself.” Pastor Timothy Keller

Lie 2. (v4) “You will not certainly die”

a. The devil scoffs at the negative consequences of sin.

~This choice won’t hurt anything.\

~(Prov. 14:12 NIV)

~(Rom. 6:23)

~God set up parameters in life called sin because it hurts you, hurts others and keeps you from being who God has created you to be.

Lie 3. (v5) “God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God”

a.The devil accuses God of actually being against us.

~God is holding out on you!

~(John 10:10 AMPC)

~(Ps. 16:11)

Lie 4. (v5) “and you will be like God, knowing good from evil.”

a.The devil advertises sin as beneficial.

~Your life will be better with you leading it, doing what feels right.

~(Rom. 8:12-14 NIV)

Lie 5. (v7-8) “they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves…and they hid from God…”

a. The devil uses sin to create shame that causes us to run from God.

~It’s too late. Run and hide!

Truth (Gen. 3:9, 21 NIV)

a. It doesn’t matter how bad you’ve sinned, how far you’ve gotten away, God is still calling you.
