A.What is Grace?
1.Foundation verse: (Rom. 5:17) reigning in life through receiving abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.
2.What is Grace? Grace is God’s power, strength and ability to be who you are born to be, and to do what you are born to do through faith; unmerited favor.
B.He Gives Grace to the Humble
1.Where, why and when is grace found?
a.(2 Tim. 2:1; 1 Pet. 1:13; 2 Pet. 1:2) in Jesus
b.(Heb. 4:16) the throne of God, to help, in the time of need. (prayer and relationship with Christ)
c.(2 Cor. 12:9) in human weakness
2.(Jas. 4:1-10 AMP; 1 Pet. 5:5-8) God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud.
a.(Prov. 16:18; 29:23) many verses on pride
b.Humility – go low, bow down, to submit, to yield, to prefer, to allow, lowly of heart, dependence.
c.Pride – high, haughty, lofty estimation of oneself, braggadocious, arrogant, looking down on others, to inflate; self-centered, self-dependent, self-sufficient.
~Pride is self-centered; humility is God-centered.
~Pride is the enemy of promotion.
~Self-image vs. Christ-image
