I.Living in God’s Will for Your Life

A.Living in God’s Will for Your Life

1.(Rom. 12:1-2 NLT/MSG) God’s will for you is good, pleasing and perfect.

2.Some errors regarding God’s will.

a.Some fear knowing God’s will.

~God will ask me to do something I hate.

~I’ll be bound to a boring life.

-(Jas. 1:17-18 NLT) God’s will is always good!

-God’s will is always acceptable (pleasing to Him)

-God’s will is always perfect.

~My design matches God’ will and God’s will matches my design.

b.Only a few “select elect”can know God’s will.

~(Isa. 55:8-11; 1 Cor. 2:9-14)

c.There are many “will’s”of God – good, acceptable, perfect, permissive.

~“I’m a mechanic today but one day when I become an XYZ I’ll be in the will of God.”

d.Two wrong extremes regarding the will of God:

~The sovereignty of God extreme –nothing happens unless God will’s it.

-The end doesn’t justify the means!

~Some live in fear and anxiety of missing God’s will. Legalism says, if you pray harder, go to church more, etc. you can get in the will of God.

3.To properly understand God’s will for your life we must understand God’s purpose for your life.

a.(Rom. 8:26-32) God’s primary purpose and destiny for every person is to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus.

~The new testament concept of the will of God must be perceived primarily as a matter of “being” versus “doing, going and having.”

~The will of God is found and fulfilled in being united to Christ and you walk in the light of it in relationship with Him.

-(John 17:1-26)

-(John 15:1-8 TPT)

-(Matt. 7:21-23)

b.God’s secondary purpose for your life involves your unique gifts and assignment – “the doing, going and having.”

c.Tell missionary in the jungle illustration.

4.Knowing the will of God through union and relationship with Jesus.

a.(Eph. 5:8-20) Understand what the will of the Lord is as you walk in Him.

b.(Col. 1:9-29) Christ in you the Hope of realizing the glory.

c.(Col. 2:6-13) We are complete in Him.
