I.You have a Purpose from God
A.Understanding Purpose

1.(Eccl. 3:1-2, 11 AMP)

“You are not just the product of your parent’s passion; you are the product of God’s purpose for your life.” Lee Stokes

2.Until purpose is discovered, existence has no meaning, because purpose is the source of fulfillment.

a.Have you ever wondered “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?”, “What is life all about?”

~“The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without a reason.” Myles Munroe
~“It is dangerous to be alive and not know why you were given life.” Myles Munroe

b.Fulfilling purpose must be the primary goal of every person.

3.(Jer. 1:5 NIV) Purpose is the original intent in the mind of the creator that motivated him to create a particular item.

a.Purpose precedes production.

~Every product is produced by purpose for a purpose.

4.Your existence is evidence that this generation needs something that your life contains.

a.God created you with a definite purpose in mind.

~Fulfilling that purpose does not just happen as a by-product of life.

~You must strive to be who you were born to be.

b.(Prov. 20:5) “The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.”

B. The Nature of Purpose

1.God’s intentions for your life govern your design, function and nature.
a.You are designed for your purpose; you are perfect for your purpose.

~You are the way you are because of why you are!

~You were not created just to make a living; you were created to live your making!

2.Everything you naturally have and inherently are is necessary for you to fulfill your purpose.

a.Your height, race, skin color, language, physical features are all designed for your purpose.

~Don’t try to be a cheap imitation of someone else, BE YOU!

~You can and should learn from others but not try to be them.

3.Purpose is Permanent

a.(Prov. 19:21Amp) “Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.”

b.(Rom. 11:29Amp) “For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]”

4.Purpose is Resilient

a.God’s purpose is not hindered by your past.

~You are not too old to resume your purpose.

~Nothing you have done can cancel you purpose.

5.Purpose is Universal

a.Every human being, every living thing, everything that exists, has been chosen by God to fulfill His purposes.

C.Purpose and Potential

1. A person or thing apart from its creator cannot know its purpose.

a.If you want to know the purpose of a product, you must ask the manufacturer or his authorized representative.

~The true capacity of a product is determined not by the user but by the manufacturer.

2.Your potential enables you to fulfill your purpose, and your purpose reveals the potential hidden with you.

a.Life outside your ideal environment will destroy your potential because a wrong environment always means death.

~The key to maximizing your full potential is to discover the purpose or reason for your life and commit to the fulfillment at all cost.

3.Your potential is determined by you understanding who is your source and being connected to Him.

a.In Gen. 1 God speaks the world into existence.

~(v11) God speaks to the earth to bring forth the grass and seed.

~(v20) God speaks to the waters to bring forth fish and birds.

~(v24) God speaks to the earth to bring forth animals and insects.

~(v26) God speaks to Himself to create man.

~(Gen. 1:26, 27) “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…”

4.Purpose coincides with natural talents and abilities.

a. When God created you, He built into you all the natural necessities for performing and fulfilling your purposed assignment.

b.Knowing your purpose is the key to using your potential, because once you discover your purpose in life you can also learn how much potential God stored inside you to meet the demands He makes on you.
