I. Hearing God’s Voice

A. My Sheep Know My Voice

1. (John 10:1-5, 27-29; 15:14-16)

a. Knowing God’s voice is one of the most important aspects of our relationship with God.

~If you’re saved you’ve heard God’s voice.

~God is always speaking, but we’re not always listening or recognizing His voice. (ex. “I knew I shouldn’t have gone there…”)

b. (Prov. 3:5-8) God will direct your paths by His voice.

c. (Prov. 4:20) “…give attention to my words, incline your ear to my sayings.”

~Tune the ear of your heart like a radio.

d. (Ps. 91:15) God promises to answer you when you call upon Him.

B. Your Conscience

1. The conscience (the intuitive sense of God’s existence, and right vs. wrong) is the most foundational way that God speaks to all humanity.

2. (Gen. 2:16-17) “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat…”

(Gen. 3:6-11) Man’s conscience was awaken when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Everyone is born with a conscience.

3. God speaks to us through our conscience so we must keep our conscience clear.

a. (Rom. 2:14-15 AMP) the law is revealed to our conscience and will accuse or acquit us.

b. (1 Tim. 4:1-2) The conscience is not a perfect guide because it can be perverted or contaminated (seared or cauterized).

~Some misuse and abuse the grace of God, sear their conscience and live in sin.

c. (1 Tim. 1:5-6, 18-20 NLT) deliberate violation of the conscience can shipwreck your faith.

d. (Rom. 1:18-32) the progression of violating the conscience can end up with a reprobate mind.

4. (Heb. 10:19-22) drawing near God with a pure conscience.
