I From Death to Destiny

A.Mount Sinai the Place of Discipleship

1. (1 Cor. 10:1-13) The children of Israel’s journey from Egypt to Canaan. An 11 day trip took 40 years and only 2 of the original adults over age 20 made it in.

a. We are not under the legalism, administration or wrath of God of the old covenant Law, but the patterns, principles, statutes, and laws of God make up His divine order.

b. To have divine results: blessing, healing, prosperity etc. we need divine order.

~Don’t mistake God’s mercy, grace and love for approval!

2. Deuteronomy 6-7 list 7 promises of provision in Canaan.

#1 Promise land – is the place of all the inheritance

#2 Prolonged life

#3 Prosperity-everything you need

#4 Grace, unearned favor

#5 Casting out all your enemies

#6 Children and family blessing & increase

#7 Take away all sickness

3. Why did the children of Israel die in the wilderness?

a. (Heb. 3:5-19 NLT; 4:1-3 NKJV) Unbelief!

b. How does faith come? (Exo. 20:18-20 NLT)

4. The first stop we must all make after we get born-again (leave Egypt) is discipleship (Mt. Sinai).

a. (Matt. 28:18-20) Jesus never said make converts!

~disciple – to become a pupil, to enroll as a student or scholar; to learn and adhere to Christ’s precepts and instructions; a disciplined one.

-School vs. Church

~Everything you need from God has already been provided by God but must be received by faith, and faith comes by hearing and learning accurate knowledge (discipleship).

-(2 Pet. 1:2-4)

-(Eph. 1:3, 11)

-(1 Pet. 2:24)

-(2 Cor. 8:9; Jos. 1:8; Deut. 8:18)

b. (John 8:30-32) Discipleship is the path to freedom!

~Coming to church once or even twice a week will not make you a disciple!

-(Acts 2:41-42, 46-47 all NIV)

c. (Luke 14:25-35 GNT) count the cost of discipleship.
