I From Death to Destiny

A.He Brought You Out to Bring You In

1. (Deut. 1:2, 8 AMP) The children of Israel’s journey from Egypt to Canaan. (1 Cor. 10:1-13 GNT)

2. Egypt to Canaan is a type and shadow of going from sin to the promise land and inheriting God’s promises. It is the process of spiritual maturation from a babe in Christ to growing up in all things into Him in the new covenant.

a. Egypt (Prison) is a type of being in dead in sin before Jesus. (Ex. 12:3-13 NIV)

b. Mt. Sinai (Promises) is a type of getting God’s Word: the promises and principles. It is the process of spiritual maturation where a convert becomes a disciple. (Ex. 20:19-21)

c. The Wilderness (Problems) is a type of living out the word, doing the word you’ve learned. It’s the place of testing to see if you will believe or not.

d. Canaan (Provision) is a type of living in the promises and provision of God. It is not heaven because giants, enemies and problems are there.   (2 Cor. 1:20; Acts 17:28)

3. (Deut. 6:1-24; 7:1-23) God didn’t take you out of sin to die in the wilderness on the way to your destiny. But receiving your inheritance will be a fight of faith. 7 promises listed in Deuteronomy 6 & 7:

a. Promise land

b. Prolonged life

c. Prosperity-land flowing with milk and honey

d. Grace, unearned favor

e. Casting out all your enemies

f. Children and family blessing & increase

g. Take away all sickness

4. Why did the children of Israel die in the wilderness?

a. (Heb. 3:5-14, 17-19 NLT; 4:1-2 NKJV) Unbelief! Their faith had not been properly developed because they refused the word at Mt. Sinai. They remained children in the faith so they died in the wilderness.
