I.Can I Lose My Salvation?

A. Was I Born a Sinner or Born into Sin?

1. (Rom. 5:19, 12-15, 18) Adam provided sin for all in the same way Jesus provided righteousness by faith for all.

a. (Gen. 8:21; Ps. 22:9-10; 139:13-18; Rev. 3:5) Born into sin, but not a sinner yet.

~(ref. Isa. 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; Ps. 71:6; Gal. 1:15)

b. (Rom. 2:11-15 AMP)

~(Jas. 4:17; 2:10)

~(Eze. 18:1-4, 20; Deut. 24:16)

B. Play Spirit, Soul & Body video. (Let’s pause it at each break for discussion.)

C. Your Born-again Spirit is Sinless (probably all next week)

1. (1 John 3:6-9) Your born-again spirit cannot sin neither can sin enter into your spirit.

a. If you are truly born-again you will not want to continue in or love sin, nor will sin continue to have its long term pleasure. (1 John 3:3)

b. Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! (Rom. 3:8; 6:1, 15)

~Paul gave two reasons we should live holy (Rom. 6:1, 16)

2. (1 John 2:1-2) You can sin in your body and mind but not in your spirit.

a. (Eph. 1:13-14) Your spirit has been sealed with the Holy Spirit until the redemption of the purchased possession (your new body and renewed soul).

3. (Eph. 1:7; Col. 2:13) All of the born-again believers’ sin is forgiven past, present and future.

a. Must I confess every sin I commit to put them “under the blood” after I’m born-again according to 1 John 1:9?

  • No, that’s not practical or possible!

b. (Rom. 3:23) We all sin and are falling short of the glory of God.

~(Rom. 14:23) “…for whatever is not from faith is sin.”

~(Jas. 2:10) “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”

~(Jas. 4:17) “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”
