First Wednesday, April 2, 2025
1.Accessing God’s Power
A. Receiving the Baptism in Holy Spirit by Faith
1. (Luke 11:9-13) Can anyone receive the Holy Spirit?
a. (John 14:17) The only prerequisite to receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the new birth.
2.Will I automatically speak in tongues when I receive?
a. (Acts 2:4) No, we do the speaking but the Spirit give us the words. (i.e. give them words to speak)
~You can be baptized in the Holy Spirit and not speak with tongues because the Holy Spirit will not MAKE you speak. You have to speak!
b. (1 Cor. 14:2, 14) My spirit prays independent of my understanding.
B. Tongues and Interpretation
1. (John 14:26) He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things Jesus has said to you.
a.(1 John 2:20, 27) access to all knowledge
b. (1 Cor. 2:9-14, 16) we have the mind of Christ in our born-again spirit, and we speak it in other tongues.
2. (John 4:14; 7:37-39) Jesus referred to the new birth and baptism of the Holy Spirit as a well and river of water.
a. (Prov. 10:11a; [18:4 AMP]; 20:5) draw and drink from the well by praying in tongues and interpreting and give others water by prophesy.
3. (1 Cor. 14:5, 13-15) While praying in tongues ask God for an interpretation. Then pray with the spirit while praying simultaneously with your understanding.
a. In the public church setting you or someone speaks in tongues, then you or someone gives an interpretation in tongues.
b. In private prayer you pray in tongues but you don’t have to stop praying and give an interpretation in your known language, simply your understanding will become fruitful.
c. Not everything that comes to your mind is the interpretation. You must judge it with the word. (ref. Heb. 4:12)
