A.Pride – The Danger of Prosperity & Promotion

1.(Prov. 16:18-19; 18:12) pride/destruction; humility/honor

a.Pride – independence from God; exalts one’s own opinion and ways over God’s.

b.Humility – dependence on God; exalts God’s opinion and ways over all others.

2.Humility vs. Pride

a.Humility is God’s nature; Pride is Satan’s nature.

b.Humility is Christ-centered; Pride is self-centered

c.Humility takes on Christ-image; Pride takes on self-image.

d.Humility accepts and operates in the truth; Pride believes, propagates and protects lies.

e.Humility produces obedience and therefore promotion; Pride produces sin and therefore destruction.

f.Humility displays love, submission and peace; Pride displays anger, hatred and strife.

~(1 Cor. 13:4-8 AMP) humility = love

g.Humility is grateful; Pride thinks others owe them.

h.Humility takes responsibility for wrongs done; Pride blames others.

i.Humility gives God glory; Prides seeks its own glory.

j.Humility brings grace; God resists the proud

k.Humility brings promotion; Pride brings humiliation.

3. (Deut. 8:7-9:6 NLT) Prosperity, power, prestige and position can cause us to be prideful.
