A. Stewardship – God’s Purpose & Priority for Money
1. (Prov. 27:18, 23-27 all AMP) How you manage or steward what you have will determine how much you get.
a. (Ps. 24:1-2; 50:7-15; 89:11; 115:14-16) God is the owner and we are the stewards.
2. Stewardship (Luke 16:1-13)
a. (v8) This is where some confusion may come in. Why did the master praise the dishonest steward for his actions?
God IS NOT praising dishonest behavior!
Before, he blew all of his money on temporal things, but now he sees that money can influence his and others future in a positive way.
b. (v9) “…make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail (DIE)…”
fail – ekleipo – to die
“…they may receive you into an everlasting home.”
Your investment of finances into seeing lives changed for the kingdom will pay you dividends into eternity!
c. God is saying, “Use temporal money (unrighteous mammon- filthy lucre) to make an eternal impact on people and they will welcome you into heaven when you arrive.”
Everything in the earth that money can buy is temporary, but the greatest use of money is to change someone’s eternity.
d. (v10-11) Jesus calls money “the least” and states that if you are not faithful in the least you are disqualified for the true riches. Money is the test for true riches from God.
