I.A Proverb a Day

A.Promises to the Righteous

1.The book of proverbs is like a manual of God’s practical instruction written to men for all, covering vast topics of life. From accountability to anger, beauty to boasting, resolving conflict to raising children, God’s wisdom and insight is revealed. Because the book of proverbs is only one of 66 books of the Bible it connects to the new covenant truths we need to live a victorious life with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

2.(Prov. 2:6-10 AMP) One of the prominent themes and subjects in the proverbs is righteousness and its promises.

a.(Prov. 10:2, 3, 6, 7, 11, 16, 20, 21, 24, 28, 30-33)

b.(Ps. 34:15, 17, 19) promises of righteousness in the Psalms

3.What is righteousness?

a.Righteousness – dikaiosyne – total acquittal; clearance from all guilt shame; right standing and right relationship with God. (Justified, just, right, upright)

b.(Rom. 1:16-17) The gospel of Christ reveals the righteousness of God by faith.

~The gospel relates to two main things: the grace and the righteousness of God through Christ.

~(Rom. 5:17) receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.

c.(2 Cor. 5:17, 21) Jesus became sin so we could become the righteousness of God in Christ.

d.(Rom. 3:19-28 NLT) right with God by faith in Jesus Christ not by keeping the works of the law.

e.(Rom. 10:1-10 NASB) all of salvation is rooted in righteousness by faith.

f.(Rom. 5:12-28) By Adam came sin and condemnation; by Jesus grace and righteousness.
