I. Winning the Good Fight of Faith
A. Stand in God’s Armor
1. (ref. 1 Tim. 6:12) “Fight the good fight of faith…”
2. (ref. 2 Cor. 10:3-5) carnal vs. spiritual weapons
3. (Eph. 6:10-18) standing in the whole armor of God.
1. Belt of Truth
2. Breastplate of Righteousness
3. Boots of the Gospel of Peace
4. Shield of Faith
5. Helmet of Salvation
6. Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)
7. Prayer and Supplication in the Spirit
B. Shield of Faith
1. (Eph. 6:16)
a. “above all” means literally held up over you. A soldier could hide behind and under his shield.
b. “…taking the shield of faith…”
~What is Faith? Faith is simply right believing with the heart and right believing is based on truth of God’s Word.
~(Matt. 21:21-22) believing = receiving; receiving = believing
-Shield of Right Believing
~(2 Cor. 4:18 AMP) faith focuses on the promise of God which you cannot see and not the physical evidence, contrary to His promise, you can see.
~(Rom. 10:17) Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.
2. “…with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
a. Fiery darts are the seeds (thoughts) the devil throws at your mind intending to get you to accept, believe, and consent to his lies and temptation.
b. (Mark 4:11-20) Jesus explains sower & seed
~(Matt. 13:24-28) Satan sow’s word seeds
~(Jas. 1:14-15; 3:6 all AMP)
~(Acts 10:38; Ps. 107:20)
3. (Matt. 16:13-18, 21-23) Jesus puts up His shield of faith.
a. (Prov. 4:20-23) this is how to take up the shield of faith.
