I. The Ministry of Reconciliation
A.Do You Know the Gospel?
1.Foundation verse: (2 Cor. 5:17-21) every believer is called to the ministry of reconciliation and the message of reconciliation is the gospel.
2. (Rom. 1:16-17) What is the gospel?
a. The gospel relates to two things: God’s grace and the gift of righteousness.
~(Rom. 5:17) reigning in life is the result of receiving these two things: abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.
b. What is grace? Unearned, unmerited favor.
~(Acts 20:24; Gal. 1:6-9) The gospel is the grace of Christ.
~(John 1:14, 16-17) Jesus is grace embodied.
c. What is righteousness? Acquittal; clearance from all guilt; right standing and right relationship with God. (Justified, just, right)
3. (Rom. 3:20-28 AMPC) righteousness by faith
a. (Rom. 10:1-4) ignorance of God’s righteousness stops the blessings of salvation.
4. Being established in God’s righteousness gives us access to all of the benefits and promises of God.
a. (Ps. 5:12) Blessed with favor as a shield!
b. (Ps. 34:15, 17, 19) God delivers the righteous!
c. (Ps. 37:16-19, 25) Satisfied in famine!
d. (Prov. 10:2, 3, 7, 11, 16, 20, 21, 24, 25)
e. (Prov. 11:21 KJV) Blessing and favor!
~(Prov. 15:6 AMPC) Priceless treasure…
f. (Isa. 32:17) Peace and rest!
g. (Isa. 54:14, 17) No weapon prospers!
h. (Matt. 6:33) “…seek first the kingdom of God…
