I.The Lord’s Prayer
A. Prayer Model or Framework for Prayer
1.(ref. Luke 11:1) “…Lord, teach us to pray.”
a. Prayer is relational communication with God.
2. (recite Matt. 6:9-13) The Lord’s Prayer
a. (v13a) “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
b. The “Lord’s Prayer” is a model of prayer that Jesus gave to the Jews that were, at the time still under the old covenant. Not all parts of the “Lord’s Prayer” are proper under the new covenant.
B. God Doesn’t Lead Us into Temptation and We Are Already Delivered from the Evil One
1.We have already been delivered from the evil one.
a. (Col. 1:13 AMP)

b. (Heb. 2:14-15 AMP)
c. (ref. Eph. 1:17 thru 2:6) Paul’s prayer
2.God does not tempt us with evil nor does He lead us into temptation.
a. (Matt. 4:3: 1 Thess. 3:5) Satan is the tempter.
~Satan has only 2 weapons: temptation and deception.
b. (Jas. 1:2-4 AMP) there will be temptations and trials in life.
c. (Jas. 1:5-8) pass the tests of faith or trials with wisdom.
d. (Jas. 1:12-15 AMP) the process of temptation.
~(ref. Rom. 6:23) Sin always results in death.
e. (1 John 2:16) 3 areas of temptation: (1) lust of the flesh, (2) lust of the eyes, (3) pride of life.
3. How to overcome temptations:
a.(Gen. 3:1-11) Adam/Eve fail the test.
b.(Matt. 4:1-11) Jesus passes the test.
