I.The Lord’s Prayer
A. Prayer Model or Framework for Prayer
1. (ref. Luke 11:1) “…Lord, teach us to pray.”
a. Prayer is relational communication with God.
2. (recite Matt. 6:9-13) The Lord’s Prayer
a. (v12) “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”
b. The “Lord’s Prayer” is a model of prayer that Jesus gave to the Jews that were, at the time still under the old covenant. Not all parts of the “Lord’s Prayer” are proper under the new covenant.

~(ref. Matt. 5:17) Jesus came to fulfill the law.
c. New Covenant forgiveness and unforgiveness:

B. Forgiven Forever: Old vs. New Covenant
1.(John 1:17) Moses vs. Jesus
(Exo. 24:6-8) old based on man’s performance
~(ref. Exo. 20) the “You shall’s”
~(Deut. 28:1-2, 15) blessings based on perfect obedience.
b.(Matt. 26:26-28) new based on Jesus performance
~(Heb. 8:6-13) the “I will’s”
~(2 Cor. 1:20-22 NLT) blessings with no contingencies.
2. All of the sins of mankind (past, present and future) were paid for by Jesus at the cross 2000 years ago.
a. (2 Cor. 5:17-21) He took all our sin and we got all His righteousness.
~(Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:12-14, 21-22; 2:13-14; 1 Pet. 2:22-24) Jesus took ALL your sins past, present and future!
~(Heb. 9:24-26: [10:10-14 KJV]) You are perfect in God’s eyes!
