I. The Lord’s Prayer

A. Prayer Model or Framework for Prayer

1. (ref. Luke 11:1) “…Lord, teach us to pray.”

a. Prayer is relational communication with God.

2. (recite Matt. 6:9-13) The Lord’s Prayer

a. (v11) “Give us this day our daily bread.”

~Source, and Schedule, Sustenance.

B. Give Us this Day Our Daily Bread (Matt. 6:11)

1. Source: Notice the prayer model doesn’t start with us asking God for anything. It starts with us acknowledging Him, who He is, where He is, and His Kingdom ruler-ship.

a. “Give us” God our heavenly Father is your only Source and everything else is a resource. (ie. job, bank, spouse, sugar daddy or momma, baby daddy or momma, government, etc)

~A resource is simply the vehicle God uses to provide through. When you make the resource your source, that’s called idolatry.

~An idol is anything you look at to meet your needs independent of God.

b. If God is your Source, no resource can own, control, threaten or ruin you.

c. (Ps. 34:8-10; [104:5-21 TPT]) God is the Source.

d. (Matt. 6:24-34) Your commitment to the kingdom rule of authority will affect God’s provision in your life. The spiritual must precede the physical.

2. Schedule: this day our daily bread.”

a. Provision is God providing for His vision.

b. (Exo. 16:4-5)

3. Sustenance: “bread” refers to sustenance, provision, necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. As a Father, God is obligated to provide sustenance.

a. (Phil. 4:19)

b. There are times God will allow or even cause a resource to dry up.

~(1 Kings 17:2-9) To move you to your next assignment. (Share my testimony)

~(Deut. 8:2-20 NLT) To grow you up spiritually; and to discipline you if you become prideful and/or idolatrous.

c. (Matt. 4:3-4) The devil would love to provide for you by you ignoring God’s assignment and pursuing your own agenda.
