I. The Importance of God’s Word
A.Daily Bread
1. (Ps.138:2) of the big three God’s Word may be the most important.
2. (ref. Heb. 4:12) the Word of God is alive.
a.(ref. John 6:63) my words are spirit and life.
b. (John 1:1-4, 14 NIV) God and His Word are one and the same, inseparable.
3. (Isa. 55:8-11) God’s Word is seed and bread.
a.(ref. Matt. 4:4) live by every Word of God
b.(ref. John 6:35) …I am the bread of life…
B.How to Use the Bible (Eat the Bread)
1. Start your day reading God’s Word (Ps. 119:147 NLT)
a. The One Year Bible (5 Worship 5 Word 5 Prayer)
2. Study God’s Word. (Josh. 1:8 NLT; 2 Tim. 2:15 KJV)
a.Get a translation you like and can understand.
~Formal equivalency: exact word by word translation. (KJV, NKJV, NASB, & ESV)
~Functional equivalency: exact thought by thought translation. (NLT, TEV)
-(NIV combines both formal/functional)
~Paraphrase: tells what the passage means
-(Living Bible, Message, Passion)
b. Get a study Bible
~Hebrew/Greek Key Word Study Bible, Life Application Bible
c. Attend church weekly.
d. Get in a small group – Freedom Group
3.Stand firm using God’s Word (Eph. 6:13, 17 NIV)
4. (Matt. 4:1-11) Jesus tested in the wilderness
5.(1 Thess. 2:13 AMP) receive, believe and adhere
