I. The Faithful, the Doubting and the Departed

A. Jesus’ Death, Burial and Resurrection

1. (ref. 1 Cor. 15 NLT) Paul says THE most important thing in life is that Christ died for our sins, was buried and raised from the dead just as the Scriptures said.

2. (Isa. 52:14; 53:3-10 all AMPC) the great exchange.

B.The Faithful, the Doubting and the Departed

1. After Jesus conquered death and rose again, he appeared to over 500 people on earth for forty days before his final ascension into heaven. (Jesus didn’t do what I would have done.)

a.Mary Magdalene (ref. John 20:11-18)

~The Faithful

~Jesus cast seven demons out of Mary.

~She was a faithful follower.

~She’s the last to stay with Jesus at His execution.

~She’s the first to discover the empty tomb.

~She’s the first to hear about hear about His resurrection.

~She’s the first to see and talk with the resurrected Jesus.

She’s the first to be called and sent to tell the disciples about Jesus’ resurrection.

b.The disciples and Thomas

~The Fearful and Doubting

~(John 20:24-29 NLT) Jesus appears to the fearful and doubting disciples.

c.Peter

~The Departed

~(ref. Luke 22:31-34) Peter swore he would never leave Jesus.

~(Matt. 26:69-75) Peter denies Jesus.

~(ref. John 21:1-19) Jesus restores Peter.
