I.Reigning in Life Vol.2
A.What is Grace?
1.Foundation verse: (Rom. 5:17) reigning in life through receiving abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.
2.What is Grace? G.R.A.C.E – God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Grace is God’s power, strength and ability to be who you are born to be, and to do what you are born to do through faith; unmerited favor.
a.Grace has been provided for the whole world through Jesus Christ, but grace without truth is of no benefit and is often perverted.
~(Tit. 2:11-14 NIV; 1 Tim. 4:10 NIV) grace offers salvation to all but is received by faith.
-Grace is a means, not the end.
~(1 John 2:1-2 NIV) Jesus died for the sins of the whole world.
~Jesus is GRACE embodied.
B.Grace and Truth
1.(John 1:14-17) Jesus, full of grace and truth.
a.(John 14:6) “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
~(John 17:14-18) “Your word is truth.”
~(John 8:31-32) “the truth shall make you free.”
b.Jesus was a perfect balance of grace and truth.
~GRACE – God’s power, strength, & love etc.
-The person of Jesus
-Grace without Truth is meaningless.
~TRUTH – God’s Word & principles.
-The principles of Jesus
-Truth without Grace can be mean.
c.Grace must be harmonized or mixed with truth to be beneficial.
~(Eph. 2:8-9) Grace through faith (truth)
~(John 3:16) God loved and gave His Son (grace)that whosoever believes (truth)
2.Examples of Grace and Truth
a.(John 8:1-11) Woman caught in adultery
~“Neither do I condemn you…” = GRACE
~“Go and sin no more…” = TRUTH
b.(John 5:5-15) Lame man healed
~“You have been made well…” = GRACE
~“Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” = TRUTH
c.(2 Cor. 8:9) “He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor…”= GRACE
(2 Cor. 9:6) “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” = TRUTH
~(3 John 2-4) Prosper in all things and be in health = GRACE; by walking in the truth.
