I 2020 the Year of Becoming Disciples
A.From Egypt to Canaan
1. (1 Cor. 10:1-13 GNT) The children of Israel’s journey from Egypt to Canaan is an example for us so we don’t make the same mistakes in our Christian journey.
2. Egypt to Canaan is going from sin to the promise land and inheriting the God’s promises. It is the process of spiritual maturation from a babe in Christ to growing up in all things into Him in the new covenant.
a. Egypt is a type of being in sin before Jesus.
b. Mt. Sinai is a type of getting God’s Word and principles.
c. The Wilderness is a type of living out the word, doing the word you’ve learned. It’s the place of testing.
d. Canaan the Promise Land is a type of living in the promises and provision of God. It is not heaven because giants, enemies and problems are there.
3. (Deut. 8:1-19 NLT)
a. (v5 NLT) “Just as a parent disciplines a child, the LORD your God disciplines you for your own good.”
b. (Eph. 4:11-16 NLT) the journey of going from Egypt to Canaan is simply called growing up spiritually in the new covenant.
c. (Matt. 28:19-20 NLT) discipleship is the process for spiritual maturation in the new covenant.
d. (John 8:31-32 NLT) the process of discipleship will continue the rest of your life.
