I. He Got Up So You Can Get Up Again

A. Jesus’ Death, Burial and Resurrection

1. (1 Cor. 15:1-8 NLT) The most important thing in life is that Jesus’ died for our sins, was buried and was resurrected from the dead!

a. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection was prophesied by OT prophets and Jesus.

~(Mark 8:31; 9:31-32; 10:32-34)

b. (Isa. 53:2-10 MSG) the great exchange at the cross.

2.(1 Cor. 15:12-22 NLT) the resurrection.

a. resurrection: anastasis – rising again; raised to life again; restored back to life; a standing up again; a recovery, a comeback.

3. There are many in the Bible who were knocked down and were resurrected or had a comeback from defeat, sickness, family issues, poverty, depression and even death.

a.Joseph

He went from being the favorite son of his rich father, to being thrown into a pit by his jealous brothers and sold into slavery.

~(Gen. 39:1-4 AMP) as a slave he was a successful and prosperous man.

~As a slave Joseph was falsely accused of a sexual crime and thrown into prison for 14 years. (Gen. 39:19-23 AMP)

~(Gen. 41:38-44 AMP) Joseph’s comeback to greater prestige, prominence and prosperity.]

~(Gen. 45:4-11 AMP) Joseph’s family stored.

b.Job

~(Job 1:1-3 NLT) Job was very blessed

~(Job 1:13-19 NLT) Job loses his property and children.

~(Job 2:7-10 NLT) Satan attacks Job’s health and his wife tells him to curse God and die.

~(Job 42:10-13 NLT) Job restored 7 fold everything that was lost.

d.Jonah

~(Jonah 1:1-4 NLT) Jonah tries to run from the will and call of God. Job’s disobedience brings a storm in his life.

~(Jonah 1:17; 2:1, 10 NLT) God sends a great fish to rescue Job from the sea and bring him to obedience.

~(Jonah 3:1-5 NLT) Jonah gets a 2nd chance
