I. Growing Up Spiritually
A. Signs of Spiritual Immaturity
1. (1 Cor. 13:11) Being a child vs. mature spiritually: growing in speech, understanding and thought.
2.(John 3:3-6) We all enter the kingdom of God as babes in Christ, but we should all desire to grow up spiritually.
a.(1 Pet. 1:23 AMP) Spiritual birth/natural birth
b.(1 Pet. 2:2 NIV) Growing by the word.
c.(Luke 2:40, 52 AMP) Jesus grew up spiritually.
3.Some signs of spiritual immaturity:
a.(Eph. 4:11-16)
~Unstable and uncommitted to the kingdom
~Doesn’t know the truths of God’s Word
b.(1 Cor. 3:1-4 KJV)
~Carnal – dominated by the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21)
~Meat = doing the word vs. just hearing
-(John 4:31-34 KJV)
~Envy, strife and cause division
c.(Gal. 4:1-3)
~Discipled more by the world and the culture than the word and Christ.
d.(Heb. 5:11- 6:2)
~Become dull of hearing
~Moving backwards spiritually
~Unskilled in the word of righteousness
~Can’t discern between good and evil
~Don’t understand the elementary principles of Christ:
-Repentance from dead works
-Faith toward God
-Doctrine of baptisms
-Laying on of hands
-Resurrection of the dead
-Eternal judgment (Hell)
