Righteousness: the Gift that Keeps on Giving

I.Established in Righteousness (ref. 54:14) “In righteousness you shall be established…”
A.What is Righteousness?
1. The Greek word for “righteousness” means acquittal; clearance from all guilt; right standing and right relationship with God. (just, justified, justification, upright)
2. (Rom. 10:9-10 CSB) When you receive Jesus as LORD and Savior you are made righteous forever with God’s very own righteousness.
3. (2 Cor. 5:21) Jesus, who did no sin, became sin so we who did no righteousness could become righteous with God’s very own righteousness.
a. (Rom. 4:13, 23-25) we are heirs of the world (cosmos) through righteousness of faith.
B. Righteousness: the Gift that Keeps on Giving
1. Why is righteousness so important? Being established in God’s righteousness gives us access to all of the benefits and promises of God.
a. (Matt. 6:33) “…seek first the kingdom of God…
~What is the kingdom of God? (Rom. 14:17)
b. (Isa. 32:17-18) Peace and rest!
c. (Isa. 54:14, 17) No weapon prospers!
d. (Ps. 5:12) Blessed with favor as a shield!
e. (Ps. 34:15, 17, 19) God delivers the righteous!
f. (Ps. 35:27-28) Prosperity of the righteous.
g. (Ps. 37:16-19, 25) Satisfied in famine!
h. (Pro. 10:2, 3, 24) righteousness delivers from death.
i. (Pro. 11: 4, 6, 8, 21) Blessing and favor!

j. (Rom. 5:17, 21) reigning in life
k. (1 Pet. 2:24) healing through righteousness
