I. Conceiving the Truth
A. Parable of the Sower
1. Jesus explained that the keys to understanding the kingdom of God are hidden for believers in the parables. He further taught the master key to all the parables is the parable of the Sower. (Matt. 13, Mark 4, Luke 8)
2. (Luke 8:5-15) Parable of the sower.
3. Key to the parable of the sower:
a.We are the sowers.
b.God’s Word is the incorruptible, infallible seed.
c. The four types of ground (wayside, stony, among thorns, and good ground) are four conditions of the heart that affect the seeds growth.
d. Only the good ground was able to produce and sustain a harvest (but at varying levels).
e. Common denominator – all heard the word.
~Wayside hearer didn’t understand the word therefore Satan immediately came and stole the word from them.
~Stoney heart hearer gets understanding and joy, but doesn’t have root in themselves and/or the word doesn’t get rooted in them. So they endure for a while then when tribulation comes on account of the word they are offended, stumble and fall away.
-(ref. Matt. 6:33) kingdom priority
-(Heb. 3:7-13) deceitfulness of sin
B. The Thorny Heart Hearer (Mark 4:7, 18-19 AMP)
1. “the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age”
a. This person gets an understanding and starts getting rooted in the word but other things are also being sown into their heart and choke and suffocate the word and it becomes fruitless.
~Do know why you’re alive? What is your God-given purpose for your life? (ref. Jer. 29:11 NIV; Prov. 19:21 AMP)
–(Phil. 3:12-14 NIV) get focused on your purpose.
–(Prov. 4:25-27 AMP)
~What are you believing God for and what scriptures are you standing of for that? Whatever it is, get focused on that.
-(ref. Rom. 1:17; 2 Cor. 5:7) music, TV plants many destructive thoughts.
–(Heb. 11:13-15 KJV)
–(Rom. 4:19-21)
–(Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:1-3)
2. “and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things”
a.(1 Tim. 6:6-10)
