I.Ephesians
A.(Ephesians 1:3-14) – Work of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit
1. (v3-6) The past work of the Father
a. He blessed us (v3), chose us (v4), predestined us (v5), adopted us (v5), accepted us (v6)
b. (v7 to the praise of the glory of His grace)
2. (v7-12) The present work of the Son
a. (v7) In Him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, (v9) having made know to us the mystery of His will, (v11) have an inheritance.
b. (v12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory)
3. (v13-14) The future work of the Holy Spirit
a. (v13) you were sealed with the Holy Spirit.
~(John 1:12-13; 10:28-29) marked and sealed as God’s own
~(Rom. 8:10-11) you received His Spirit upon the new birth.
~(John 20:19-22; Acts 1:2-5) new birth vs. baptism of the Holy Spirit
b. (v14) who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession
~Christ purchased your total redemption; spirit, soul and body but right now1/3 of your redemption is complete. Your spirit’s redemption is complete, but your body and soul are purchased and will be redeemed when Christ returns.
~(1 Cor. 6:17 NKJV; Eph. 2:5-6; 4;23-24 all AMP) you are just like Jesus in your spirit.
~(1 Cor. 13:9-12) Your soul.
~(Rom. 8:23) redemption of the body
~(Heb. 9:28 AMP) bring full salvation
~(Phil. 3:20-21) transform our lowly body
~(1 Cor. 15:50-55) new spiritual bodies
