A. Why Tithe?
1. Last week we answered the question “Why Give?”
a. Honors God, demonstrates love, releases faith, and activates the law the laws of seed-time and harvest.
2. Why tithe? (The spiritual law of first-fruits)
a. (Prov. 3:9-10; Rom. 11:16 NIV) The first-fruit offering enables God to bless the whole because of the first-fruit.
~God needs your participation and cooperation to bless you.
~(Exo. 13:11-16; 22:29-30) law of first-fruits
b. (John 3:16) Jesus was a first-fruit offering.
~(1 Cor. 15:20-23)
3. (Mal. 3:10-12) Honoring God with the tithe enables God to bless the whole.
a. (Gen. 2:16-17; 3:22-24) The tree of knowledge good and evil was a type of first-fruit.
b. (Gen. 4:3-5) Cain brought an offering of fruit and Able brought the firstborn of his flock.
c. (Gen. 14:18-23) Abram tithes to Melchizedek
d. (Josh. 6:17-19 NLT) God gives the Israelites the victory at Jericho.
~Achan steals the tithe and they lose the battle of Ai (Josh. 7:1-12 NLT).
