A. How to Deal with Temptation
1. (Isa. 5:20-21 NKJV; 2 Tim. 3:1-5 NLT) Today we live in a perverted sexually driven culture. What God calls sin the culture calls normal.
a. (2 Thess. 2:1-3 AMP) a great falling away.
~(Matt. 24:24) deceiving the very elect
~(1 John 4:1-3) spirit of Antichrist
2. (1 Cor. 10:12-14 AMP) we must be properly prepared to resist temptation in advance. (An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.)
a. (1 Pet. 5:8-9) your adversary is the devil!
b. (Jas. 1:12-15 AMP) temptation’s process
~No believer ends up in a destructive lifestyle overnight. It’s a process!
~(1 John 2:16) the devil needs your participation and cooperation to devour you. “He must get you out of the truth to get you into sin.”
~The devil doesn’t have to attack you personally. He just gets you to believe a lie so you destroy yourself!
c. (Prov. 23:7a) Your life is always moving in the direction of your most dominant thoughts. Change your thinking and your life will change.
3. (2 Chron. 12:14) King Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, did evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.
a. Prepare – to set, to fix and make steadfast; to plan in advance.
~(John 8:31-32) Build spiritual momentum by getting the truth daily!
