I. 7 Foundations of a Healthy Marriage
Foundation verses: (Ps. 127:1-2; Matt. 7:24-27)
A.Finances & Stewardship (Spiritual Overview)
1.Jesus taught about money and stewardship more than any other single subject. Why?
a.God is our Source. (1 Cor. 8:6 AMP; Phil. 4:19)
b.God wants us blessed in a cursed world, and we need His guidance to have good success.
~(John 10:10 AMP; 2 Cor. 8:9)
~(Gen. 3:17-19) we live in a cursed world
~(Josh. 1:8) good success vs. bad success
c.Finances/stewardship affects every other area of our lives (marriage/children/lifestyle choices…)
d.(Matt. 6:19-21, 24-33 NLT) Our money is linked to our heart.
~Your heart is where your money is.
~Our money follows our hearts and our hearts will follow our money.
e.(Mark 10:17-30) Money reveals the true condition of our heart.
~Jesus used money to reveal his heart.
f.(Luke 16:1-13) Money is a test for “true riches”in life and eternity.
~(v8) This is where the confusion comes in. God IS NOTpraising the dishonest behavior!
~He’s acknowledging that the unjust steward now sees that money can influence his and others future in a positive way.
~(v9) “fail”– to die; Your investment of finances into seeing lives changed for the kingdom will pay you dividends into eternity!
g.(1 Tim. 6:6-10, 17-18) With finances and riches come temptations and dangers.
