I. Made for Worship
A. Introduction – The Big Three
1. Foundation verse: (John 4:23) …the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
a. We all worship something!
b. Worship defined is our response to what we value most. You can tell what someone worships by the time, energy, loyalty, money and effort they put into that thing.
c. The first two of the 10 Commandments are about not worshipping anything before God. “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (ref. Exo. 20:3-5)
d. (Rom. 1:21, 25 NIV) 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 25They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised. Amen.
2. Like food, water and air are essential to your physical body. Three essentials to your spiritual growth are prayer, worship and the Word. These also coincide with the three named angels in the Bible.
a.Michael – warrior (ref. Dan. 10; Rev. 12) Prayer
b.Gabriel – messenger (ref. Dan. 8, 9; Luke 1) Word
c.Lucifer (Satan) – guardian Worship
B.Made for Worship (Lucifer – the first worshipper)
1. (Isa. 14:12-14) 12How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! 13For you have said in your heart: 14“I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.”
2. (Isa. 14:11) Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, and the sound of your stringed instruments…
a.Lucifer didn’t just play music he was music!
3. (Eze. 28:12-14 NKJV/15-17 NIV) 12You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created. 14NIVYou were anointed as guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 15You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. 16Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. 17Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
a. (ref. Luke 10:18) “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
~God did not replace Lucifer with another angel!
4. Who is the new worship leader? (ref. John 4:23)
a.3 types of musical instruments:
~Stringed – strummed, plucked
~Percussion – beat
~Wind – blown
b. We are those instruments:
~Vocal chords – strings/wind (ref. Ps. 150:6) Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
~Hands – percussion (ref. 47:1) O clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout unto God with a voice triumph.
c. We are the precious jewels. (ref. Rev. 21:9-26)
5. Genesis 1 Law of Creation
a. God created a life connection between the source and the created thing, by speaking to the source to create the thing.
~He spoke to Earth to create plants.
~He spoke to Earth to create animals.
~He spoke to the Sea to create the fish.
~God spoke to Himself to create mankind.
~God took the woman from the man.
b. God made woman because man was alone; God made man because God was alone.
