I. Conceiving the Truth
A. Parable of the Sower
1. Jesus explained that the keys to understanding the kingdom of God are hidden for believers in the parables. He further taught the master key to all the parables is the parable of the Sower. (Matt. 13, Mark 4, Luke 8)
2. (Matt. 13:3-23) Parable of the sower.
3. Key to the parable of the sower:
a. We are the sowers. (ref. Isa. 55:8-11)
b. God’s Word is the incorruptible, infallible seed.
c. The four types of ground (wayside, stony, among thorns, and good ground) are four conditions of the heart that affect the seeds growth.
d. Only the good ground was able to produce and sustain a harvest (but at varying levels).
e. Common denominator – all heard the word.
B. The Wayside Hearer – No Understanding
1. (Matt. 13:19; ref. Mark 4:15) The wayside hearer is the only scenario of the four where Satan was able to take away the word immediately by force because they didn’t understand it.
2. How do I get spiritual understanding?
a. (1 Kings 3:9-13) young King Solomon
b. (Ps. 49:3; 119:97-100, 130) hearing & meditating God’s Word
c. (Prov. 2:6-7) knowledge, understanding, wisdom
d. (Prov. 4:5-9) Get wisdom and understanding!
3. What are some of the benefits of understanding?
a. (Matt. 13:15) understanding brings healing
b. (Mark 4:12) salvation through understanding
c. (Mark 4:24-25 TPT) spiritual understanding
d. (Ps. 119:34) changes your walk
e. (Prov. 3:13-18) wealth, health & long life.
f. (Prov. 6:32-33 AMP) understanding prevents sexual immorality.
