I.Hearing God’s Voice
A. My Sheep Know My Voice
1. (John 10:2-5, 27) Hearing God’s voice is the most important aspect of your relationship with Him.
2. Four basic ways to hear God voice: (1) through the conscience; (2) through His Word; (3) through man’s born-again spirit; and (4) by the Holy Spirit.
3. (ref. Rom. 1:19-20; 2:15 all AMP) Through the Conscience God reveals Himself, right and wrong to all mankind through the conscience, however, the conscience is not a perfect guide.
B. Through God’s Word
1. (2 Tim. 3:16-17 AMP) the Bible is God’s voice to man.
a. The Bible is not a book written by man about his opinion of God; every Scripture is God-breathed or God-inspired. God moved man to write it.
2. (2 Pet. 1:16-21 KJV; ref. Matt. 17:1-9) the word of God is more sure word than anything we can see.
3. (1 Thess. 2:13) receive God’s word as not the word of mere man but the Word of God.
4. God’s Word is Truth (ref. John 17:17)
a. (Ps. 138:2) His word above all of His name.
5. God’s Word is eternal and can never change.
a. (ref. John 1:1-4, 14) God and His Word are one.
b. (Ps. 119:89-90; Isa. 40:8; ref. Matt. 24:35)
C. Faith in His Word
1. (Heb. 4:2) The word must be mixed with faith in the hearer to be of benefit them.
2. God wants us to know and believe in Him by His word.
a. (John 20:24-31) Thomas faith vs. Bible faith
b. (Luke 24:36-46) Luke’s account
c. (Luke 24:13-17, 25-27) Jesus walking with two disciples on the road to Emmaus.
3. Why is it so important that we know and believe God by the Scriptures and not by our experience?
a. (John 4:24) God and His Kingdom are spirit.
b. (John 6:63) the flesh profits nothing
c. (2 Cor. 4:18) everything visible is temporal and subject to change.
d. (Matt. 4:4) believers must live by God’s Word
