C. 5 Differences Between Dating & Courtship
#1 Dating is more recreational and courtship is intentional.
a. Generally speaking, in courtship both people are entering into the relationship with a sense of readiness and a desire for marriage.
b. In dating, one of both may have no desire or readiness for marriage, but simply looking to hangout or kick it…
#2 Dating can lead to confusion whereas in courtship there is always clarity.
a. In courtship it should be very clear to both people where the relationship is going and the status of the relationship.
#3 Dating rarely has accountability whereas courtship occurs within a community and often involves some trusted outside individuals giving input and accountability.
#4 Dating often follows practices of the world, whereas courtship follows principles of the word.
#5 Dating breakups can be devastating whereas in courtship breakups can be disappointing.
