I.Effective Prayer
A.Prayer of Petition (Supplication)
1.Asking and receiving from God requires understanding some truths spelled out in the scriptures.
a.(1 John 5:14-15) Know that what you’re asking for is the will of God.
~(2 Pet. 1:2-4) I have a right to everything that Christ provided through redemption at the cross. So I must know what the Word says that God has provided through Jesus.
~(Jas. 4:2-3) You don’t receive because you either don’t ask or you ask amiss.
~(Jas. 1:5-8) If you don’t know what the will of the Lord is ask for wisdom by faith.
b.Have faith in God, His love for you, and your identity in Christ.
~(Mark 11:12-14, 20-24) Faith is my positive response to God’s grace.
-When you know who you are in Christ and know what’s rightfully yours you speak to your mountains with authority.
~(John 14:12-14) the power of right believing.
~(John 15:7-8) the power of right relationship
~(John 16:23-24, 26-27) the right of attorney
~(Eph. 3:20) the power of partnership
c.Pray and don’t faint or quit until you receive it.
~(Matt. 7:7-11) Ask, Seek, Knock – tenacity
~(Luke 18:1-8) This is a comparison by contrast parable.
~(1 Thess. 5:16-18) Don’t quit until you receive!
~(Jas. 5:13-18) the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
-(1 Kings 17:1)
-(1 Kings 18:41-46)
