2.(Heb. 3:17-4:2) Why did they did in the wilderness?
3.Do all believers have to go through the wilderness to enter Canaan? Yes! God leads us into the wilderness.
a.(Exo. 13:17-18; [Deut. 1:2 AMP]) Children of Israel – 40 years.
b(Luke 4:1-2) Jesus – 40 days
c.(ref. Acts 7:22-36) Moses – 80 years
d.(ref. Gal. 1:11-18) Paul – 3 years\
e.(Luke 3:2-3) John the Baptist
4.What the wilderness IS NOT:
a.It’s not a place of defeat. (2 Cor. 2:14)
~(ref. Num. 21:1-3) defeated King Arad of the Canaanites
~(ref. Num. 21:21-24) defeated King Sihon of the Amorites.
~(ref. Num. 21:33-35) defeated King Og of Bashan.
b.(Heb. 13:5b-6 AMP) It’s not a place where God forsakes us or puts us on the shelf.
c.(Luke 3:21-22; 4:1) Not a place of punishment or disapproval.
5.(Deut. 8:1-20 NIV) The purpose of the wilderness?
a.To humble you and test you
b.To reveal to you the true condition of your heart
c.To show you that you cannot live by natural means alone but by the word of God.
